This quant little beauty of a place, Ithaca, New York, definitely stole my heart and it's a place that I can't wait to visit again in the near future.
Located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region, Ithaca is home to Ithaca College and the prestigious Cornell University, Cayuga Lake, rolling hills, mind-blowing gorges and deluging waterfalls. This city is filled with natural beauty that is hard to find anywhere else, at least anywhere that I have ever been.
So, I took my trip to Ithaca this weekend with my boyfriend (an Ithaca College alumni) and a few of his buddies from the area. They all knew the trails that we hiked so well, luckily they did though because if I was alone, I would not be here to write this post. That is how awful I am with navigating, especially when all that is around you are miles and miles of trees, dirt and bugs.
My favorite part of Ithaca, aside from its natural beauty, was this cute shopping area called The Commons. We ate a late lunch/early dinner there before driving back home. Mate Factor was the restaurant name and I ordered the most delicious hummus wrap with a tropically- green smoothie. The boys I was with all gagged at the site of the smoothie, but hey I got them to try it and to my surprise and their own, they actually admitted it tasted decent.
Anyways, my second most favorite part of this weekend excursion was the trip to Taughanncock Park where I saw with my very own eyes, the highest waterfall dropping east of the Rocky Mountains. The water falls from 215-feet and is absolutely breathtaking to see. Below is a photo with my boyfriend standing in front of this piece of natural beauty:
