Ugh. My apologies again for not posting in a while. I'm just in the process of filling out tons of paperwork and training to become a brand ambassador for Nordic Naturals. As a brand ambassador, I go to different health food stores, set up demos and educate consumers about the Nordic supplements. Currently, this is my third health food line that I rep; Amazing Grass and Vega are the other two. They really are all great companies and I absolutely love what I do (and will be doing)!
Anyways, in my blog today I wanted to talk about the latest and greatest new workout plan: HIIT. High intensity interval training is topping the fat burning charts. Low to moderate speeds alternating with high intensity intervals is what is proving to be effective in not only successful weight loss but also increasing aerobic and anaerobic endurance. These are the reasons that HIIT is thought to be more effective than normal cardio--at a constant running, biking or swimming pace for a set period of time.
I perform HIIT workouts just about every morning that I go to the gym (3-4 times per week). Starting with a 5 minute treadmill warmup, weights and then a half hour of high intensity interval training, I feel absolutely amazing when I leave the gym and begin my day.
HIIT is great for people who claim they don't have the time to workout. Just 20 minutes of high intensity interval training not only physically burns you out but it also burns more adipose tissue than regular cardio.
On the stationary bike, I aim for 30-40 seconds at a level 15-17, pedaling as quickly as possible, and then back my level down to a 7 for 30-40 seconds of recovery. I've noticed that since I began interval training, I am not out of breath as easily when I run a mile and I also feel more energized for my day ahead.
Have fun googling "HIIT workouts" and you'll be surprised all that will come up!
Have fun "HIITing" :)
